This was one of your many characteristics: it was impossible to refuse you anything. At least I never managed to. You knew it and made the most of it. Unashamedly. Sometimes this was pretty inspired of you. Like in 1998 when you asked me to give your editor friend Jean Marchetti some unpublished stories. I'd like to see anyone dare ask that of me.
